Telegram is a private, encrypted chat app similar to Whatsapp and Signal etc. If you are new to it, any questions are probably answered on this page (click here) on the Telegram website.
IMPORTANT – Telegram requires a mobile phone number to set up an account. However, your number is not visible to anyone else. You will never get unsolicited calls or texts from using Telegram. Your number is used for registration, or for recovering your account should you install Telegram again at a later date.
So bear in mind, if you use a burner SIM for TG registration (e.g., a £1 SIM used only for this purpose) then lose access to that number in future, you will not be able to recover your account should you reinstall Telegram on a different device! So keep the SIM somewhere safe – like in an envelope with your important paperwork etc.
There is a simple setup guide on this page (click)
Once you have Telegram installed, return to our “Chat Groups” page for your invite link to the TWI Private Members Association Chat rooms.
Telegram can be used on mobile (Android, iPhone) or desktop PC. If you do not want to use a smartphone (or do not have one) you can use Telegram Web. Also there is the standalone version “Telegram Desktop” also available or for Linux, MAC and Windows computers.
